Dr. Peter R. Foster, MD, FACC

The SWICFT Institute is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Peter R. Foster, MD, FACC.  A graduate of Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis, Indiana, Dr. Foster completed his Post-Graduate and Fellowship Training at the Indiana University School of Medicine Hospitals and Krannert Institute of Cardiology.  Dr. Foster is Board Certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, and Electrophysiology.

 

After several years on the faculty of Indiana University School of Medicine, Dr. Foster was
associated with Indiana Cardiology Consultants in Indianapolis, practicing Cardiology and Electrophysiology for nearly 25 years. He is the author of numerous abstracts, scientific papers, and several book chapters relating to Cardiology and Electrophysiology.

 

Dr. Foster is a Fellow of the American College of Cardiology, American Heart Association, and Member of the Heart Rhythm Society.

 

In addition to seeing patients in Naples, he is establishing an office on Marco Island, where he has maintained a home since 1996, and he looks forward to accepting new patients who have any heart related problems to his practice. Dr. Foster is currently on the staff of Physicians Regional Hospital.

 

Dr. Sajan Rao, MD, FACC

The SWICFT Institute is pleased to announce the addition of Dr. Sajan Rao, MD.  Dr. Rao has joined us from Georgetown/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C.  He is a graduate of George Washington University School of Medicine in Washington D.C. and completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of California - San Diego.  Dr. Rao then completed a Preventive and Integrative Cardiology Fellowship at the Scripps Medical Center in La Jolla California.   He went on to complete his Fellowship in Cardiovascular Disease at the Georgetown University/Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. 

 

After completing his training Dr. Rao was a member of the academic faculty at Georgetown University and Washington Hospital Center for two years.  In that role, he was active in caring for patients with complex cardiovascular disorders and advanced heart failure, along with running a large lipid clinic and being a member of a nationally recognized cardiovascular imaging team.

 

Dr. Rao is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Cardiovascular Disease and is a Diplomate with the National Board of Echocardiography and the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology.  He is also a member of the American College of Cardiology, Society of Nuclear Cardiology, and the National Lipid Association.

 

Dr. Rao is currently on the staff of NCH and will be serving both the NCH - Downtown and NCH - North Collier hospitals and will be seeing patients in Naples and Bonita Springs.  His special interests include preventive cardiology, cardiovascular imaging, heart failure, and critical care. 



Janet Sparker, PA-C, RN

The SWICFT Institute is pleased to announce the addition of Janet Sparker, PA-C, RN.  Janet received a baccalaureate degree cum laude from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation Lake Erie College Physician Assistant Program in Ohio in 1979. Upon graduation she was invited to join the Cardiology Department at the Cleveland Clinic where she practiced as a Physician Assistant for 25 years in all subspecialties of Cardiology. While working at the Cleveland Clinic she earned a baccalaureate degree in nursing from Ursuline College, and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society of Nursing in 1991.

 

She became interested in Cardiology research while working with the Chief of Electrophysiology at the Cleveland Clinic, and collaborated on research abstracts accepted for presentations at national professional societies. She transferred from the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio to Naples in 2005 to join the Cardiology practice at Cleveland Clinic Florida. 

 

In addition to being a member of the SWICFT Institute team, she is a full-time professor for the Nova Southeastern University Southwest Florida Physician Assistant program.  When not teaching at the school she will be lending her expertise to both the Wellness Clinic and the Cardiovascular Clinic at SWICFT.
